I'm ready to start on the top for my grill cart. I have a centered grill with table space to the right & left. I was planning on granite or large tile but this will eliminate a lot of the beautiful natural wood top. I remember when I did my kitchen some incorporated stainless rods that went into grooves in the counter top to act as a heat shield (trivet). I could easily route grooves in my wood top to accept these.
I was wondering for those with granite inserts do you use them primarily for heat protection, as a cutting board, or both?
Thanks,
Mike
